John D. Bennett, MD, FACC, FACP, is the retired president and CEO of Capital District Physicians’ Health Plan, Inc. (CDPHP), an award-winning, physician aligned, not-for-profit health plan based in Albany, NY. Bennett held this position from 2008 until 2024, after serving more than 10 years as chair, vice chair, and board member for CDPHP. 

During his tenure, CDPHP was ranked among the top-performing health plans in New York and the nation and was most recently named #1 in Customer Satisfaction in the 2024 J.D. Power Member Health Plan Study. Under his leadership, CDPHP also became known as a model employer regionally and nationally and was named among the top twelve Best Companies to Work for in New York by the Society for Human Resource Management in 2024, as well as Forbes Best-in-State Employers 2022. 

Prior to joining CDPHP, Bennett served as founding member and CEO of Prime Care Physicians, PLLC. During his tenure, he co-led a team of 25 cardiologists and helped grow the practice to a 100-physician multi-specialty group.  

Bennett is board certified by the National Board of Medical Examiners and the American Board of Internal Medicine, with subspecialties in internal medicine and cardiology. He earned his medical degree at SUNY-Downstate Medical Center, Brooklyn, and a Bachelor of Science degree at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. Bennett completed an internship and residency in internal medicine and a fellowship in cardiovascular disease at Albany Medical Center. He is a Fellow of the American College of Cardiology and the American College of Physicians.

Bennett is the former board chair for the Center for Economic Growth and the Capital Region Chamber, and current vice chair for the Palace Theatre. Bennett also serves on the boards of the New York eHealth Collaborative (NYeC), Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, and Russell Sage Colleges. Bennett is a past member of the New York Public Health and Health Planning Council where he helped shape decisions related to New York State's public health and health care delivery system.

Well-known locally and nationally for advancing health care innovation, Bennett was named to Crain’s New York Business 2021 Notable in Health Care, as well as the Albany Business Review’s Power 50 list. 

After retiring from CDPHP, Bennett currently serves as the CEO of Excelsior Health and a Physician Shareholder of Community Care Physicians, PLLC.

 

 

Description of the image Dan is the CEO & President of Graypoint, LLC and serves as a member of the Investment Strategy Committee. Dan joined Hugh Johnson Advisors in 2010. Dan spent 28 years as a partner at the Ayco Company, L.P. providing tax, investment and financial planning advice to Ayco’s highest net worth clients. He founded and led the firm’s Special Investment Group, creating venture capital, private equity and hedge fund opportunities for the firm’s clients. Dan spent three years as Senior Vice President, Strategic Alliance at Goldman Sachs integrating Ayco into Goldman’s Private Wealth Management practice following the sale of Ayco to Goldman Sachs. He serves as trustee for Albany Law School and is a trustee of The College of Saint Rose and the Center for Disability Services Endowment Board. Dan received his undergraduate degree in Finance from the University of Albany and his JD from Albany Law School.


Description of the image John Nigro is the President of Nigro Retail Properties, a commercial real estate development and management company based in Albany, New York. In 1974, he began a career in the real estate business, which was to eventually become Nigro Retail Properties. Nigro Retail Properties owns and manages many commercial properties throughout northeastern New York State and Massachusetts, specializing in shopping centers.
Mr. Nigro is a board member of Siena College, the Albany Medical Center, Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, the Saratoga Performing Arts Center, United Way, the Albany Symphony Orchestra and 15 Love.
