Who We Are
The Boy Scouts of America (BSA) stands as the beacon of the nation's premier youth program, dedicated to character development and values-based leadership training, shaping young minds to be "Prepared. For Life.®" Since its establishment in 1910, over 130 million young individuals have benefited from the transformative experiences offered by BSA's programs. This monumental impact has been made possible through the unwavering dedication of more than 35 million adult volunteers who have selflessly served as mentors and guides.
In a historic evolution reflective of changing times, since 2019, BSA programs have been inclusively extended to all genders, embracing a model that serves entire families. This progressive approach ensures that the invaluable lessons of Scouting are accessible to every young person, fostering a diverse and inclusive community united by shared values.
Nestled within the picturesque landscape of New York's Capital District and the rugged beauty of the Adirondack Region lies the Twin Rivers Council (TRC), a steadfast bastion dedicated to upholding the venerable legacy of Scouting. Spanning across 13 counties, TRC remains steadfast in its commitment to delivering enriching Scouting programs to youth, nurturing the leaders of tomorrow. In 2021 alone, TRC proudly served approximately 4,000 young individuals, thanks to the tireless efforts of over 2,000 dedicated volunteers. Their collective dedication ensures that the flame of Scouting continues to burn brightly, illuminating the path towards a future imbued with character, integrity, and service.
